Many prospective BMW buyers, and those interested in EVs, may be unaware of what the BMW iX range is, and how long it takes to charge. So, if you’re curious, you’re in the right place. This article will cover more about the BMW iX’s range and performance.
BMW iX Range and Charging
The iX xDrive 50 had an EPA estimate range of 315 miles, but in a real-world test, it beat that estimate by 62 miles, landing at a whopping 377 miles. The iX M60 has an estimated range of 274 to 288 miles. These models include a complete charging solution for home and public charging needs. For instance, you may install the BMW Wallbox, a level 2 charger, in your garage to provide quick charging at any time. On average, it takes under 12 hours to charge from 0 to 100%. And when connected to a 200-kW connection, the BMW iX can recharge from 10% to 80% in just 35 minutes, thanks to its standard DC rapid charging feature.
BMW iX EV Power And Performance
Two models of the BMW iX are currently available; the xDrive 50 and the iX M60. The 2023 BMW iX xDrive50 version is propelled by two electric motors with a combined output of 516 hp. With a single-speed “e-speed” automatic transmission, it can get to 60mph in under four and a half seconds. It tops out at 124mph.
The M60, on the other hand, is a high-performance variant that boasts a massive 610 hp with 749 pound-feet of torque. You can hit 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds from a dead stop, and max out at 130mph. It has integrated active steering with a rear-axle steering system and a 2-axle self-leveling air suspension. And, since it is a part of the M performance line, it comes with a high-performance lightweight integrated brake system with ABS, cornering and dynamic brake control, brake drying, drive-off assistant, and automatic hold. While not all of these features are standard on the xDrive 50, they are standard on the M60.
Besides the range of BMW iX, you also have an opportunity to take advantage of the electrifying benefits this model offers. For instance, you will be eligible for HOV lanes with just one occupant, and save money on tolls. Also, because all-electric BMWs require relatively less maintenance, at least in the first few years of life, there are fewer moving parts and fluids that you will need to replace or service.
