2022 BMW 4 Serires Gran Coupe Performance

Anxiously awaiting the BMW M4 Gran Coupe release date? You’re not alone because this roomier version means the same style you’ve always wanted with a bit of extra space. Fortunately, you don’t have to wait long as the M4 Gran Coupe release date is set for  August of 2021.

A Little Extra Room?

The Gran Coupe is based on the sedan model, but it sports an extra 5.9 inches in length. It’s also a bit taller, adding 2.1 inches to the overall model, and a bit wider with an extra inch to spare.

More than that, though, it comes with a wheelbase that’s 1.8 inches longer than the first-gen version of this vehicle. All of that means a much larger luggage compartment as well as the two extra doors you’d expect from the Gran Coupe.

The inside may be a bit different at a glance, too, as the center console is a little unique. The digital instrument cluster and touchscreen display are nothing new, though, and you can access natural-speaking voice activation.

Don’t worry, though. None of that extra space affects the aerodynamic performance of this vehicle, as the active air-flap control system and the streamlined undertray mean excellent efficiency. BMW numbers have it at just a .28 drag coefficient.

Added Power

With the Gran Coupe, you’ll be able to choose between a rear-wheel drive 430i and the all-wheel drive M440i xDrive.

The 430i runs on a four cylinder engine that produces 255 HP and 295 lb/ft of torque. Should you choose to go with the M440i, you’ll find quite a bit more to offer as it comes with six powerful cylinders and the ability to produce 382 hp and 369 lb/ft of torque.

It also has a bit of a surprise as it has a 48-volt hybrid system that delivers 11 horsepower of assistance. Both include an eight speed automatic gearbox.

You’ll be able to get adaptive dampers with either model, but even if you don’t add them to the package, you can expect to see the lift-related dampers the 3-series offered.

Should you select the M Sport package, you can expect firmer dampers as well as 19-inch wheels. If you add the Dynamic Handling pack, you’ll get adaptive dampers, larger brakes, and an active locking rear differential.

The 430i has a current MSRP of $45,795 while the M440i has an MSRP of $58,995. To learn more about this beautiful model, contact us today
