2022 BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe Review, Pricing, and Specs

The 2022 BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe has been spotted by car aficionados, and the news is that this luxury vehicle will be a 4-door hatchback not much different from the earlier 4-Series Coupe.

Secretly obtained images obtained reveal that the 2022 BMW Gran Coupe appears to have the same frontal design with large vertical kidney grilles.

The real details will only be available when the luxury car arrives in the US sometime in the middle of 2021.

A Few Cosmetic Changes

After years of complaints about its cars, BMW is now playing it very smart and has finally found a formula that works and is sticking to it. The hardware that worked with the 3-Series is now being carried over to the 4-Series. 

The Grille

Even though there is a lot of talk about the vertical kidney grille, this is not something new. BMW had the same features in the iconic 328i nearly 50 years ago; the only difference now is that the grille is slightly bigger.

The reason for the bigger grille is that the latest 2022 BMW Gran Coupe is a powerful car that needs extensive cooling. The other difference between the 3-Series is that the 4-Series will be distinct with its 4 door style.

The Hatchback

While the external design of the 2022 BMW Gran Coupe appears more like a coupe, it also has some hatchback features in the rear which is very similar to the 3-Series sedans.

Other than these minor cosmetic changes, the Gran Coupe has taillights and headlights very similar to the convertible and the coupe. 

Under the Hood

BMW knows what works, so the powertrain is identical to previous models. The 430i will have a turbocharged 2.0 liter engine and the M440i will come standard with a turbocharged 3.0 liter inline-six.

Hop In

The exact indoor features of the BMW M4 Gran Coupe haven’t yet been released, but there aren’t a lot of changes that are likely to be made inside. You can expect a buttonless interior and two large screens on the dash to accommodate the infotainment system and the instrument gear. BMW is moving away from traditional buttons to provide a clean, sleek look. 

You may also notice a bit of extra space in the back of this vehicle. Thanks to the hatchback designs, any passengers pushed to the back will have a bit more space with this one.

BMW hasn’t released any price details for the 2022 BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe but what is known is that you can expect to add a bit more money for four doors. Based on the current coupe price, it is expected that the Gran Coupe will probably start at $47K.
