Examining The 2014 Electric Cars of The Year
Every year brings us more and more electric cars. And every year, these cars get better and better. When it comes to 2014 electric cars, there is a surprising number to choose from. Take a look at some of the cars currently available (or ready for order) and see what works for you.
The Infiniti Electric Sedan has a pretty basic name – it states exactly what it is without any fancy model numbers or acronyms. It boasts as much as 150 horsepower with an electric range of about 80 miles.
The Cadillac ELR is still floating around, and while it’s stronger than the Chevy Volt, its range is only 35 miles.
The Ford Focus Electric isn’t among the luxury car brands, so you can’t expect amazing interiors and the sort of attention to detail others bring to the table. While it still offers the electric benefits, it’s still a little over $35,000 with an estimated range of 110 miles at its maximum.
The Tesla is one of the forerunners of the 2014 electric cars, with a huge range of up to 265 miles. While it’s also strong and efficient with space for four people in a sedan-like design, it also comes with a huge price tag that will leave a lot of people out of the running.
The BMW i3 is one of the better balanced electric vehicles out there. It has the same care and attention that all BMW vehicles get, has a range of 70-110 miles, and has plenty of power beneath the hood. At just over $41,000, it isn’t breaking the bank, either.
Other car brands either simply haven’t gotten into the electric car world, or they are still working on prototypes. Audi has alluded to an electric car for a few years now, but without any final vehicle on the road. Until then, the BMW i3 is certainly the best pick available, and they’re not stopping there – expect to see a BMW i8 in the future.
