BMW Announces Line of M Performance Parts for M5 and M6 models

In order to meet the demands of owners of BMW M5 and M6 models, already among the most high-performance vehicles on the road today, BMW has announced a line of M Performance Parts, including M Carbon Ceramic Brakes and a Titanium M Performance exhaust system.

The M Carbon-Ceramic Brake System, exclusively designed for the most powerful BMW M models and currently available as original equipment, are characterized by even higher heat resistance, low weight and exceptionally high resistance to wear. M Carbon-Ceramic Brakes are offered in conjunction with 20-inch M light-alloy wheels and a combination of 6-piston, fixed caliper brakes at the front and single-piston, floating caliper brakes at the rear.  The M carbon-ceramic brake system weighs 42.8 lbs. less than the series production version, reducing ‘unsprung mass’ to improve braking, ride and handling.

Offering a combination of lower weight, increased performance and a unique sound, the BMW M Performance Exhaust System was jointly developed by BMW M and exhaust specialists Akrapovič.  Manufactured completely from titanium, the system enhances the characteristic sound of the 560 hp high-revving M Twin PowerTurbo V8 engine, resists heat and corrosion and reduces weight by more than 22 lbs.

Other M Performance Parts include an Alcantara leather steering wheel with race display.  Integrated into the top center of the steering wheel rim, race display provides the driver with gear shift information as well as lateral and longitudinal acceleration values, as well as lap times in minutes, seconds and hundredths of a second.  Also available are carbon trim for the shift lever, carbon interior trim, carbon caps for the rear-view mirrors, a high-gloss black front grille and stainless steel accelerator, brake and clutch pedals.
