In a bold statement from DriveTribe, the BMW M2 Competition “marks the moment BMW effectively out-Porsched Porsche.” Aggressive, athletic, and gutsy, the M2 Comp is an icon in the making.
The entry-level M2 is a good car. Not stellar. Not exceptional. It was just a reliably solid car with great handling and cornering. But for those who wanted more than “good” or “solid,” the engine left something to be desired and while featuring adequate power, it couldn’t be described as “powerful.”
It seems BMW listened! The M2 Comp addresses these issues. Trading the 3.0 liter six cylinder for a twin turbo six, there is a noticeable difference in power. It feels like an M3 or M4, and accelerating from zero to 60 takes an effortless 4.4 seconds (4.2 with the DCT dual-clutch auto transmission). It glides, and while the M3 and M4 can be a bit intimidating to drive, the M2 Comp is like butter.
The two door M2 Competition is surprisingly comfortable and practical, offering plenty of space and a generous trunk. The round sports steering wheel is a pleasure, adding just that much more to the driving experience. The infotainment system is easy to use and while this model doesn’t offer a futuristic array of tech, you never feel as if anything is lacking.
If you are looking for a fun, compact sports car, the BMW M2 Competition delivers the thrills and chills you want. Its muscular frame is perfectly matched to its powerful engine. This is not an ostentatious car; it is one that looks just as spirited and athletic as it is. And we’re confident you’ll savor every mile.
