BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe Will Arrive at Braman BMW This Fall

January 03, 2014

Looking very much like a sleeker 3-Series sedan, the all-new BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe is set to make its debut at the Detroit Auto Show and appear in the Braman BMW showroom in the fall, making it a 2015 model.

The 4-Series Gran Coupe is essentially a smaller version of the 6-Series Gran Coupe and features pretty much the same overall length and wheelbase as the 4-Series coupe, but with a taller roof and a longer rear window that flows into a conventional trunk, a design feature that visually increases the side dimension of the car.  And, just like the 3 Series GT, the 4 Series Gran Coupe is set to get a tailgate.

As for the engine lineup, expect the same 428i and 435i designations from the 4-Series coupe to filter across to the four-door coupe. This means a 240-horsepower 2.0-liter turbo in the 428i Gran Coupe and a 300-horsepower 3.0-liter turbo in the 435i model. Transmission choices should include a standard six-speed manual and optional eight-speed automatic.

A high-performance M4 Gran Coupe powered by the 425-horsepower 3.0-liter turbo announced for the latest M3 sedan and new M4 coupe is expected, along with a sporty M Performance model.

The 2014 BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe was spied testing at the Nurburgring racetrack in Germany and the prototype features little camouflage.  The all-new 4-Series Gran Coupe joins a 4-Series lineup that includes both coupe and convertible, both available in 2- or 4-wheel drive configurations.
