The BMW i3 vs Tesla Race – The Race Heats Up With The New i3
Many people like to compare the BMW i3 to the Tesla simply due to the fact that both offer some of the most impressive electric car technology since the concept came into being. In fact, each car manufacturer is doing some very interesting things with their smart cars, making it hard not to compare them. But this isn’t simply a case of “is one car better than the other”? There are a lot of factors to take in, making it a very interesting debate.
The BMW i3 came into being at the hands of many very skilled people at BMW. BMW is, and has been for a very long time, a large and impressive company with a massive range. BMWs can be seen all over the world, and now they’re ready to offer up a high-quality electric car – in fact, one that is strictly electric and one that does have a small gas tank for extended range (the i3 BEV and i3 REx). Options are always appealing, and thus far the i3 has done a lot of dazzling because of it’s efficiency, handling, technology, and much more. This is BMW at some of its finest innovation, and people are definitely noticing it.
The Tesla, on the other hand, comes from a much smaller company. An aggressive one, at that – meaning it’s ready and raring to go in order to take on some of the big boys and their gas vehicles. If you compare the i3 to the Tesla Model S, the Model S gets over 200 miles in range, costs around $71,000 , is actually a little longer in length than the i3, and be able to comfortably seat five passengers like any other sedan. However, one check in with the 2014 Model S price and you’ll find it far greater – around a whopping $71,000. Compared to the i3’s $41,000, this can be an easy deal breaker for anyone.
For now, Telsa may have a handful of benefits in areas that the BMW i3 does not, but for what the BMW i3 brings to the table – which is still a great deal – and for the price and availability that BMW can offer, it should come as no surprise that the BMW i3 is indeed winning the BMW i3 vs. Tesla race.
