Say you purchase a new BMW that you are in love with; it’s sleek, stylish, and a true performance machine. With stellar handling and a luxe interior, it’s a dream on wheels. But maybe you regret your decision not to get Connected Parking or Connected Charging. Or maybe there are new BMW features like the proprietary Intelligent Personal Assistant that you wish you could have selected when you bought your vehicle. You’re in luck: BMW is rolling out a new subscription model that allows you to pick, choose, and update features as you want.
The BMW Subscription Model
BMW recently announced plans to create a subscription model for driver assistance features and comfort functions. While not all of the details have not been released as of yet, the brand has indicated that features like heated steering wheels, heated seats, lane keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control, may be offered on a subscription basis. So, all of the necessary equipment will be installed in vehicles, and you can access the ones you want for months or years.
This gives you great flexibility in terms of the features and functions that are most important to you. For example, let’s say that you rarely use cruise control, but you are planning a long road trip. You may add this feature and then discontinue it after you are back home. Another benefit is that if you sell your car, the next owner can activate the features that they want. There are some features that you can purchase, such as adaptive M Suspension or the IconicSounds Sport selection.
